Dr Sophie Wallace

Dr Sophie Wallace is an Emergency Consultant at Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia’s major trauma centre.  She also works for the Emergency Telehealth Service for WA Country Health, providing remote emergency support across the whole of WA, and frequently works up in Karratha in the Pilbara. She is heavily involved in emergency fellowship teaching and is on the exam writing and standard setting panel with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM).

 

Sophie has also been working in high altitude and expedition medicine since 2009, has been on several expeditions above 5000m altitude including three seasons working as the doctor on Mt Everest.  She has been hiking and climbing since she could walk, having grown up in the UK spending most of her holidays in the Scottish highlands, and has climbed 3 of the 7 summits, the first at the age of 19.

 

Sophie lives in Perth with her medical partner and two furry idiots, and is currently renovating an old 1930s cottage in her spare time.  Days off involve the beach, the river (cycling round or paddling in), good food and travelling to WA’s amazing destinations.
