Dr Katharine Noonan is a Public Health Medicine registrar, based in the Office of the Chief Health Officer at the WA Department of Health. In 2021 Katharine was elected Vice President of the AMA (WA), the first female Vice President in 24 years and the first Doctor-in-Training to hold the position. Between 2020 and 2022 Katharine worked on WA's COVID-19 response with the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre. She studied Medicine at UWA, is a Rhodes Scholar and holds a Masters in Global Health Science from the University of Oxford. Katharine has a variety of professional interests including health policy and advocacy, having previously worked with the NHS for a public sector consulting firm in London, as Clinical Policy Lead with the AMA (WA), and in paediatrics at Perth Children’s Hospital. She also has a keen interest in research, having worked at Telethon Kids Institute as Head of Strategy for END Rheumatic Heart Disease and Clinical Research Fellow for the Australian Strep A Vaccine Initiative.
